Triple-E Framework

Personally I think that the Triple-E framework would work well to evaluate the appropriateness of new technology for learning. This is due to the incorporation of how effective the technology is for enhancing the students’ learning which is often forgotten. I’m sure that in most cases there is no problem with engagement with technology in the classroom but just because the students are interested in the technology does not mean that they are necessarily taking anything away from it unless as a teacher you really pay attention to that. By using the Triple-E framework with Engagement, Enhancement, and Extension you are looking at a framework that as a teacher I think I’d use to plan overall lessons. You want to be able to plan something that students are engaged with because participation will aid with their overall learning. A lesson that will help students further extend their knowledge on a particular content. Lastly, an extension of the topic that students can continue to work on outside of school. If you follow the Triple-E framework you will be able to effectively evaluate whether or not the technology is appropriate for the students’ learning. To properly assess the effectiveness of the technology I think you’d have to look at every student individually and not just the class as a whole. Technology may not be the most effective form of learning the specific content for each and every student and modifications may have to be done.
